Physician Assistant Instructor

 

Qualifications.  

 

Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C).

 

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant training program and hold at least a Master’s level degree in either Physician Assistant Studies or education.

 

Professional license, certification and/or registration as required by the profession and appropriate regulatory bodies.  This license will be current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration), valid (the issuing authority accepts and considers Quality Assurance information ) (practitioner professional performance and conduct in determining continued licenses), and unrestricted (not subject to restriction pertaining to the scope, location or type of practice ordinarily granted to other applicants for similar licenses in granting jurisdiction).  The license must be one granted by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the Virgin Islands.

 

Have served as a military Physician Assistant at levels I/II during Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 

Possess experience instructing combat trauma principles as they apply to Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3).

 

Descriptions.

 

Administer the Plan of Instruction (POI) and lesson plans the Physician AssistantProgram.

 

Provide instruction to AMEDD enlisted soldiers.

 

Develop and prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and program evaluations as required for MOS and departmental training to meet AHS, AMEDDC&S and TRADOC requirements guided within regulation TRADOC 350-70.

 

Support classroom maintenance and classroom setup to include classroom scenario software loading.

 

Revise courses based on instructor/student feedback and software upgrades. 

 

Input required training materials into the AMEDD Program of Instruction Automated Systems approach to Training (ASAT).

 

Assist government representatives in developing medical specific training for various subject areas.

 

Perform administrative duties related to preparing and presenting instruction to AMEDD officer and enlisted soldiers.

 

Maintain records of student and course instructor feedback.

Manage and coordinate the use of training equipment and instructional materials.

 

Serve as subject matter expert on combat trauma topics, especially focusing on combat trauma at levels I/II.

 

Enhance test development in all courses taught.

 

Use available standardized forms, paper-based or electronic, for documentation of provision of services.  Site specific logs and files may be required to keep detailed documentation. 

Provide student or course management data and reports as requested.

 

Prepare and conduct lectures, practical exercises and small group instruction directed toward clinical situations in relationship to combat trauma in areas of concern to the students, ensuring students gain the ability to apply personal knowledge in the area of combat trauma care delivery.

 

Present lectures explaining the theories and approaches of combat trauma, clinical interventions and standards of practice used in the AMEDD and the DoD and the organizations involved in the development and support of these systems.

Conduct and evaluate Practical Exercises and Practical Exams directed towards clinical situations in relationship to combat trauma in areas of concern to the students, ensuring students gain the ability to apply personal knowledge of combat trauma delivery.

Provide advice and guidance to students in the field of combat trauma management.

Develop supporting instructional material such as computerized exercises, memos, references, and test items.

Review and revises course materials that include the latest developments in combat trauma care.

Monitor records on individual student grades, class averages and student critiques for continual student evaluation.

Counsel students in the areas of academic skills and research methods in accordance with current AMEDD C&S program regulations and policy. 

Assist with research and conduct training and/or workshops on new procedures, techniques, and information within the field of combat trauma care.

Provide guidance and consultation to the enlisted teaching staff on combat trauma care.

Develop and instruct combat trauma topics including, but not limited to, primary and secondary assessment, airway management, extremity injury management, evacuation principles and combat trauma approaches as they apply to the Mass Casualty (MASCAL) situation.

Serve as SME on combat trauma topics, especially focusing on combat trauma as it applies to levels I/II.

 

Hours of Operation. 

Normal duty hours will be between the hours of 0730-1630, Monday through

 

Friday, excluding Federal holidays. Federal holidays are as follow:

However, some calls may require personnel to work flex hours such as 9-5, seven days a week, not to exceed 40 hours. Contractor personnel may be required to work weekends and extended hours to meet the training requirement. On rare occasions overtime may be required. Specific work hours and overtime requirements will be coordinated in advance, approved by the COR in writing, and will be set forth in individual calls.
