FAMILY MEDICINE NURSE PRACTITIONER

 

Location:  NAVAL HOSPITAL CAMP LEJEUNE, NC

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Have graduated from a Masters of Nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

 

  • Possess a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

 

  • Possess a current certification (in the specialty corresponding to the specialty required by the task order) as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

 

  • Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience within the last 3 years in a setting corresponding to the requirements of the task order.

 

·         The PAs/NPs shall have current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

 

DUTIES

 

·         Provide a full range of physician assistant services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer (e.g., technically direct and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).

 

·         Adhere to NAVMEDCOMINST 6550.5, Utilization Guidelines for Physician Assistants (available from the COR upon request). This instruction includes the following requirements: permits physician assistant ordering and administration of an approved list of drugs according to protocol and requires random review of records of patients seen by the physician assistant.

 

·         Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

 

·         Order diagnostic tests as applicable.

 

·         Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

·         Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

 

·         The Family Medicine Clinic operates from 0630 to 2230 Monday through Friday, except on the day of observance of Federal holidays when it is closed. Hours for After Hours Care are described in a separate paragraph below.

 

·         The specific schedule for each health care worker for each 2-week period will be scheduled 1 month in advance by the Division Head. The contractor need not provide back-up coverage for contractor health care workers during periods of approved leave.

 

·         The hours for the clinic will be 0800 to 2000 Monday thru Friday, 1000 to 1830 weekends and holidays, and is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. After Hours Care combines the services of the Henderson Family Medicine Clinic, the Marine Corps Air Station Family Medicine Clinic, the hospital Family Medicine Clinic, the Pediatric Clinic, and the Emergency Department Fast Track and will be staffed by personnel, active duty and contractor, from each of those five clinics. The combined services will achieve staffing efficiencies and provide centralized gateway for after-hours patient access.

 

  • The 8½-hour shifts include an uncompensated 30 minute meal break.
