Qualifications:
Pharmacists shall have and maintain valid
state license in any state
Shall be required to meet Continuing Medical
Education (CME) requirements for their specialty.
Shall be capable of providing consultation
service dealing with diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of
TRICARE beneficiaries.
Shall have and maintain current Basic Life
Support (BLS), certifications. These certifications shall be
maintained in a current status at all times while performing
services
HOURS
OF PERFORMANCE/SCHEDULES
Outpatient Pharmacy Services primarily and
Inpatient pharmacy rotations approx every 4-5 weeks. Duty Hours
Outpatient Pharmacy: 0800-1800 M-F Saturdays 0800-1600 with a 30
minutes uncompensated lunch break. Inpatient Pharmacy:
0700-1500; 1500-2300, or 2300-0700 includes 15 min break or 30
minutes uncompensated lunch break if workload permits.
Duties
Shall perform medical examinations and treatment of all
illnesses that pertain to the specialty of Pharmacy. Tasks
include but not limited to:
Perform all functions of opening, closing and maintaining the
security for the Outpatient Pharmacy per Standard Operating
Policy (SOP).
Maintain a working knowledge of the Ward/Clinic Bulk Drug
Section, Controlled Substance Vault and Pharmacy Support
Section.
Receives prescriptions, verifies patient’s eligibility,
determines prescriber authenticity, and interprets, fills and
dispenses prescriptions.
Verbally instructs patients of all ages in the use, storage, any
special precautions for each medication dispensed.
Maintains Pharmacy license in good standing and provides all
services in accordance with SOP, regulations and state and
federal laws.
Interprets, fills and delivers all inpatient physician orders
per SOP.
Performs IV admixtures and ensures the proper dispensing of such
products during Inpatient Pharmacy rotation.
Performs IV hood maintenance and supply functions per SOP.
Performs other professional duties as required (i.e., staff
in-service).
Respond to “Code Blue” (cardiac or respiratory arrest) medical
emergency alerts in accordance with FBMEDDAC SOP while serving
as an Inpatient Pharmacist.
Possess good communication skills.
Become familiar with and follow all applicable FBMEDDAC
regulations and SOPs.
Project an attitude that reflects the tenets of the FBMEDDAC’s
Customer Service Program.
Assist in the Pharmacy
Service’s conformance with organization’s continuous JCAHO
Readiness Initiatives.
