Licensed Vocational Nurse (Gastroenterology Clinic)

 

Qualifications.  

Be a graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse Program or have previous experience as a Corpsmen and passed the LVN exam.

Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice as an LVN/LPN in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Additionally, if you are licensed outside of the 50 States you must provide proof of having successfully passed the Licensed Practical Nurse National Council Licensure Exam (LPNCLEX).

 

Descriptions. 

Perform a full range of diagnostic support duties that include taking vital signs, collecting specimens, obtaining, recording and tracking results of diagnostic tools.

Assist the physician in a variety of diagnostic examinations and procedures assuring patient privacy, comfort and safety.

Perform basic laboratory tests such as checking urine for sugar. Record and report results.

Observe, document, and report all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient condition to the registered nurse, physician extender or physician. Make careful observations to assess nursing procedures and treatment.

Execute physician’s orders within the guidelines of standard nursing practice. Ensure accurate medication is administered in correct form and dosage to the proper patient as directed by the physician.

Administer immunizations in a safe and accurate manner with strict adherence to all applicable Immunization policies.

Perform a variety of procedures ordered by the health care providers within scope of LVN practice.

Receive patients seeking information or treatment in person or via telephone.

May be required to interact with computer systems to verify patient eligibility for services and demographic information prior to scheduling patient appointments; check-in patients; enter information regarding appointment status; and complete end of day report. Print ADS forms, check for completeness and correct errors.

Hours of Operation. 

The health care workers shall be required to provide services in the Endoscopy Suite between the hours of 7:30 am and 12:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and between the hours of 7:30 am – 10:00 am on Fridays.  The LVN will provide services in the Gastroenterology Clinic between the hours of 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and between the hours of 10:00 am – 4:30 pm on Fridays.  Duty hours include an uncompensated 30-minute meal break. 

The health care workers will not be on duty in excess of 40 hours per week.
